A Simple Rig To Bag a Big Barbel | Ali Hamidi
A lot of Carp Anglers love their Barbel Fishing too, and if that's you, here's an awesome and very simple Rig to tie using OMC Tackle Components...
There has been some really big Barbel landed on OMC Tackle over the last few years, so many in fact that we decided to put a Rig Bundle together so you have everything you need in one package to target them. Here's how to use it to create a simple but very effective Barbel Rig...
- Cut your desired length of Blend 10lb Fluorocarbon Soft (2-3ft is recommended).
- Tie an Overhand Loop Knot in one end.
- Thread on a Fishy Boilie Hookbait (Dumbbells work best on the river!)
- Add a Bait Blob to secure the bait on the hair.
- Add a size 8 or 6 Cassien Hook and tie a Knotless Knot.
- Slide on a Vitabitz Anti Tangle Sleeve.
- Next grab the Run Rig Kit and assemble it by adding the Quick Change Link to the plastic loop.
- Take the Swivel off of a Lead before adding it to the Quick Link.
- Slide the hoop onto the Mainline, followed by the Run Rig Sleeve.
- Tie on a size 8 Swivel with a Palomar Knot (best for strength).
- Attach your Hooklink to the other side of the Swivel with a 5-Turn Grinner Knot.
- You're ready to cast in the river!
TOP BARBEL RIVER RIG TIPS
- Wrapping paste around your Lead can pull more Barbel to your spot - our new Deckz Leads are perfect for this.
- The Cassien is a strong and resilient Hook that will land multiple fish. Keep it in good shape with the Touch Me Up.
- With the Run Rig Kit, you can fish the Lead either totally free running or as a Bolt Rig by locking it on the sleeve.
- If Chub are becoming a nuisance, try extending the length of your hair.
- Longer Hooklinks work best on rivers, try extending yours to over 3ft if bites are hard to come by.
