Quick Rigs For Success at New Carp Fishing Venues | Chris Haydon
One More Cast's Chris Haydon details a recent visit to day-ticket Carp Fishing venue, Willow Park Fishery in Hampshire. Armed with our newest All-In-One Rigs, what could he catch?
Finding venues for Carp Fishing that you can actually get on is often tricky. In the UK, good waters are very much in demand.
With that said, the rise of booking-only venues have made getting a spot a lot easier, and I recently visited a cracking little venue down in Hampshire bookable on the Catch Fishing App called Willow Park Fishery.
With help from the owner and head bailiff I booked onto the 10-acre Big Lake at Willow Park for a speedy 24-hour stint. This lake is very unique, being surrounded by luxury bungalows on one side and the motorway on the other. You might think this sounds too urban, but the surroundings are beautiful and there is plenty of wildlife about to make you feel like you're in the middle of nowhere.
There are lots of Carp in this lake, running to over 30lb, with 20lb-plus fish common. So it was the ideal place to pinch a bite or two on our new All-In-One Rigs.
With a bit of weed about, it was important to first find a spot, so I looped on a Donky Pear Lead and had a quick feel about, eventually finding a silty area and some gravel too.
Over this spot I baited with around 20 Spombs of fishery Pellets and Mainline Cell Boilies, both soaked in all sorts of Liquid Boosters. After the session, I found out from the owner that I actually took it a bit too easy with the feed - they love their grub on here!
For Rigs, I opted for my favourite All-In-One Lock Hook Spinner Rigs, to which I made a slight tweak in that I added a Tweakers Eyed Bait Screw. I love how much faster the Screws can get you fishing. To these I added a small PVA Mesh Bag of chops created with the ChopStix System.
It was a tricky 24-hours for everyone on the lake, but I did manage a couple of bites from two hard-fighting commons. And the good thing is, I already know the big change to make on my next visit... give them some grub!
On a final note, the facilities at Willow Park really are fantastic. There is a well stocked Tackle Shop onsite and a Cafe that delivers food to your peg! I particularly enjoyed the pizza.
